Meskel celebration in Arba Minch by Obang Metho. In the last few days I had the privilege of traveling to the beautiful city of Arbaminch and friendly towns of Dorze, Chencha, Balta and Bonke in the Gamo Zone of Southern Ethiopia.
I've had the privilege of meeting with peace loving Gamo elders and witnessed the unforgettable Gamo Meskel celebration and the Dubusha ceremony, (Gamo’s justice, peace, reconciliation and forgiveness ceremony.
What a joy to be a part of the celebration of amazing culture. It was a celebration of love, justice, freedom, peace, forgiveness, equality, unity and togetherness!
It was a fantastic event and I felt privileged to have been involved in another rich culture of our precious people of Ethiopia.
Thanks to Mr. Eyassu Wossen, CEO of Omotic Groups and owner of Paradise Lodge in Arbaminch for invited me to this wonderful event.
I had the privilege of meeting and spending time with amazing Ethiopians to name a few Dr. Mehert Debebe a well-known practicing psychiatrist, Ambassador Gebeyehu Ganga Gayito, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the United Nations, Mr. Gizachew Ayka, Chairperson of Bright Star, Ms. Edna Alemayehu, SMNE County Director and many more.
We have to learn how to accept each other, work together and be an ally of peace and harmony. It is our responsibility to learn about other cultures in Ethiopia and what makes them unique.
This celebration is an opportunity, in itself, to appraise our successes, but also to explore the complex causes that are impeding full access to human rights, justice, freedom and peace.
It is also an opportunity to reaffirm our steady commitment to work together as one Ethiopian family, not only within our communities, ethnicities but also across our country, so- as to consider innovative strategies for the future.
We the people must endeavour, further, to nurture and strengthen our commitment to a rights-based approach, which can give us the tools, to effectively tackle tribalism and the ongoing challenges of today’s Ethiopia.
Human rights, justice, freedom, peace, unity and equality must be at the centre of all our efforts to improve the lives of our citizens.
Some people tell me that the movement for genuine national reconciliation, justice and lasting peace in Ethiopia has died because we do not have the leaders who can give us a vision for a more united Ethiopia and who can demonstrate it by their actions.
My reply to those people is: “I disagreed, we have some of the best national leaders (NOT tribal leaders) among us that we could ever ask for—qualified, capable and full of personal integrity and character. Our problem is we are not organized and don’t have a strong institution that can strive for the rights of all, lasting peace and Ethiopia national interest.
Can Ethiopians come together in solidarity to build a bridge to a new Ethiopia and harmonious society or are we doomed to suffering, ethnic division and eternal failure? It all depends on how we build it.
May God guide, enable and empower us, giving us soft hearts towards each other regardless of ethnicity and strong hearts for truth and justice as we carry out this task that is beyond our ability and resources to accomplish it without respecting our common humanity.
Macto six and Amharic language! ByDaniel tomas. China is planning to teach Amharic language through its university degree program. “What’s wrong? It will be useful for development issues!” China’s development program in Africa is well known!
China and Ethiopia have a long-standing relationship! There are many Chinese in our country! So, teaching language at the university level is good for us and the Chinese. It is a source of pride for us! It also contributes to the development of Amharic! Opposing everything! ..! ” On the surface, I understand that there are many people who are logical but have a very mild opinion and attitude.
It is frustrating to see such a dull comment! It is frustrating! Why do such people comment on such a deep-seated plan? He misses the point of analyzing the plan on Facebook! I mean people who don’t understand, I mean comments! I mean people who have no clue! What is wrong with those who are happy to see the news and the surface without understanding the main theme, even if they are not happy? I mean, readers! Their knowledge and vision is based solely on Facebook. Those who seem to have left, The questioner was confused and said, “It doesn’t make sense. I don’t think it makes sense.” “We do everything to make it look like it doesn’t make sense. You seem to make no sense ! So our approach is successful.” I mean, those who are unlucky enough to understand the kind of white truths that have been answered! Every night, I mean all the things that are said about normal life just because they see it as a normal thing, but it seems like nonsense! I mean, they consume a lot of fuel, even if they are ripe! It is really frustrating to see their fictional comment on the purpose of this page while thinking about them! It also distracts others who have not read! To think nothing of them is to be lazy and forget the many wise and prudent ones! So, at least I didn’t go down without explaining myself first, because there is a lot of discussion and discussion between them and the like.
Think about how well-balanced those things are, and how easy it is for them to say something like this! Knowing that, it takes courage to say something about this and to point out the hidden truth!
Anyway, for most of them, teaching Chinese Amharic at the university level is not surprising. Since it is China, it can be called a developmental idiom and it is not a sensational news. But how do you see the Ethiopian alphabet revolution that preceded the Chinese news? Why did this happen as a citizen? What would they say if asked? It needs to be answered correctly.
The latest news is about teaching Chinese Amharic. But a year and two years ago, the Ethiopian alphabet revolution took place! The Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, and even the President of the United Nations General Assembly, Maria Espino, have made the revolution brighter! Why did these people choose to speak in front of the congregation in Amharic letters? When and what did they think? How and why did they do this? Why did so many other internationally acclaimed celebrities, from Ronaldinho to Pepper, appear to be adorned with costumes emblazoned with the Amharic alphabet? Why did the Ethiopian alphabet revolution suddenly take place in front of the world? Why and how did all this spell revolution come about? How did they come to love it? How did he come up with the letter and fall in love with them? Recently, why did the leaders of the international community and the leaders of the superpowers start chanting the Ethiopian alphabet as the Ethiopian alphabet? Etc. (I do not understand how to give a brief explanation of those who seem to be in a similar situation if they are not able to answer if they are asked the real reason), but the fact is that in 2016/17.
A few years before the Westerners deliberately launched the alphabet, the answers to the many confusing questions mentioned above were: It has been revealed how the manager dealt with serious insults and threats! This is the day after the Ethiopian alphabet revolution! At the time, he said, “How can he say that Ethiopia’s future war will be fought in writing? How can he write so many pages about the Ethiopian alphabet? What does he mean? I think many of you remember that when you were asked, Three years ago, Fisseha Yaze wrote extensively on the book “Satnael Gol Ethiopia 2” that was a trivial matter that did not make sense to us. He has given you many pages of this wide-ranging plan regarding the Ethiopian alphabet! He explained in detail why the superpowers and technological institutions have been urged to launch a joint campaign against the Ethiopian alphabet. Even if it is not possible to do so, it would be a disaster for them! And I think you who have read the book understand and understand the situation after the letter revolution! Therefore, the alphabet and the quaint revolution are directly related to what is being said, and it is necessary to look back at the situation. As much as possible, you have a responsibility to explain it to those who do not understand it.
I am trying to do that too. According to the book, the superpowers have two choices regarding the Ethiopian alphabet. 1st. With the help of Ethiopian scholars who can somehow work together and help them, make the alphabet like the alphabet of another country by converting it directly into 1 and 0 in a computer process! Inter alia…! If they can’t do that with the joint efforts of Google and the superpowers, as well as research in their universities, it could lead to a second worst election.
The second option is to completely eliminate the Ethiopian alphabet, replace it with the national alphabet, and replace it with the Latin alphabet, which can be easily converted into numbers (for formulas 1 and 0) in computer byte processes! They have no third option!
They decided that the second option would be a serious and bloody political crisis and would require a lot of homework, such as tearing down the church, etc., so they decided to delay it and focus on one option. It’s working! According to the book, this is being done with the joint efforts of Google and Billgate Microsoft, as well as the largest universities in the G20, including China, and the financial support of billionaires around the world.
If not here’s a new product just for you! Before moving on to the second option and trying the first option, they have devised a plan to change the second option as a result of internal political conflict.
In order to do so, they have relied heavily on the nations that used the Latin alphabet in the past, and have done so through the UK to help them with this kind of homework and what they think they are doing at the moment. You can easily implement it in the face of conflict and revolt, and accordingly, you will continue to work alongside and facilitating the work for the second option alongside the first attempt. ” He elaborates extensively on the reasons and needs of the people.
This is a book that was written two years before the revolution in the country. It was published and widely read before the rise of the Ethiopian alphabet! And now, alongside the first option, they are implementing the work that will help them with the second option through domestic ethnic politics.
This is more than just a case in point! Why is it important not in the process of teaching and learning in Ethiopian universities in China or any other powerful country? Is on! This is not happening for friendship, love, work and diplomacy! Or is it the result of a tourist acquaintance that is already attracting the attention of the masses and is not being decided by their peers? Not to make Ethiopians happy! China is not alone in seeking and pursuing its own interests! Our country’s alphabet is not recognized internationally! Language is not one of the superpowers! The country and its alphabet are not inspired! It is not difficult for the Chinese to work in Ethiopia without the Amharic language!
So look back and try to understand the real point of the matter. Find out the answer to the question of why! Instead of taking things in stride, try to focus on the other side of the story. Even if you don’t believe it, at least how? Why wait? Come on in! No, those who say we only see it in the news…. I say keep it until you understand it, because you understand it slowly.
In any case, on page 131 to page 196 of this book, a computer like the Amharic alphabet or Macro 6 fantasy could not convert the numbers to 0 and 1, and as a result there was a big problem, even Google could not enter the unlimited translation, much to their annoyance. As a matter of fact, I think it would be good if you look back at the section that says that all the superpowers are focused on this issue, and especially the superpowers, such as China, are encouraged to work on this script and have a little understanding of it. No! Let’s stop protesting, let’s not just look at it in a negative light. But knowing in advance why they are doing this will pay off for the next conspiracy of the Ethiopian alphabet and national unity! Especially for Orthodox Tewahedo! (In this book, it is widely stated that it is impossible to think of Ethiopia without the adoption of Orthodoxy, and that is what is happening.) It is very important to prepare in advance, at least to make it known to many.
Fifteen civilians were reportedly killed in an attack by gunmen on a police station in Dangur Woreda, Negez Kebele as Amhara Media Center reported
Fifteen civilians were reportedly killed by gunmen
15 innocent people were killed by gunmen and their accomplices at around 10 pm on September 24, 2020.
Demlele Tsidign, a resident of Gumz and Bengez Kebele in Dengur Woreda, said his brother, Buldi Tsidign, was also killed.
Demlew did not want to reveal the identity of the attacker, other than to say that the attack took place at night and that the militants were coming from the bush and collaborating with the community.
He said the bodies of the slain innocent were taken to the woreda by the Defense Forces, adding that the kebele structure and security forces could not save their lives due to the darkness.
However, the Defense Forces arrived in the area on the morning of September 25, 2020 and said they were operating in the area.
Another resident of the kebele put the death toll at 21, with 14 Amharas, 1 Gumuz killed by gunmen last night, and six Gumuz natives killed in a shootout with the Defense Forces.
Attempts to contact Benishangul-Gumz Regional State President Ashadle Hassan and Dangur Woreda Chief Administrator Dessie, Dangur Woreda Deputy Administrator Lijalem Hailu were unsuccessful due to Ashalele’s failure to pick up the phone, Dessie’s claim that he was in a meeting and his son’s phone call.
Desalegn, Chairperson of the Metekel Amhara Identification Committee, expressed his sorrow and said that the information has been received and we will continue to verify the information.
On the other hand, Amhara Regional State Security Adviser, Kefale Esubalew, said he immediately received information about the killings and threats against innocent people in Dangur Negez Kebele. He said he is still working with the Benishangul-Gumuz regional government to bring to justice those responsible for the September 10, 2020 attacks on Wombera and Bulen and on the night of September 24-25.
He said the federal government, the Amhara and Benishangul-Gumuz regional governments, said it was difficult to say whether they had acted in the face of identity-based attacks and threats.
We will be presenting the extensive meeting with Amhara Regional State Security Adviser, Ato Kefale Esubalew at AMC YouTube.
Belete Molla Getahun – Chair person of National movement of Amhara!
The militants has launched a genocidal campaign against the Amhara people in the Negez area, close to the Great Nile Dam, under the nose of the state and the government.
Despite repeated attempts by government officials to address the issue, innocent lives continue to be disrupted. All of this is happening every day behind the beautiful word “prosperity.” According to our sources, the culprits are the “Akurafi” militants, but how could the government fail to eradicate the “Akurafi militants” when the genocide is a daily occurrence around a huge national development peace and security project like the Nile Dam? Apart from delivering rations, what is the strategy of the Amhara regional government to solve the problem in a sustainable way? Citizens have a natural right to self-defense, and it is the political and security responsibility of the Amhara regional government to obtain a legal weapons license from the Begu government.
Three years ago, when the Oromo people were attacked in the Kamash zone, the Oromo Special Forces came to work in Bagu Kamash. How many thousands of Amharas must end up to do this ??
Getachew Shiferaw – Activists and Journalist!
According to the Amhara Media Agency, more than 20 innocent people were killed today. Metekel is a widespread area. Even the OLF was supported by the Oromo ruling party. Oromifa language was introduced, forcing local authorities to do so. On the other hand, one of the forces trained by the Northern separatists in Sudan is part of the Benishangul-Gumuz “Federalist Forces.”
Despite all this, the weakness is the Amhara regional government. The other could not keep up with the expansion. Two years ago, when Oromos living in Benishangul Gumuz were attacked, the regional government deployed special forces. In addition to defending the Oromos, he has carried out a number of expansionist activities.
The Benishangul-Gumuz regional leadership, which has been embroiled in controversy with the current and former rulers, has not been able to secure the right to life and security of its citizens. The solution lies in protecting citizens. When their right to organize is respected. It is when their inheritance is resolved. This can be done by the owner first. Implantation is best done, especially at home and abroad.
Amhara Youth Association in Gondar!!
One of the purposes of the Amhara Youth Association is to be a voice for the Amhara people in the face of racial political violence. In this regard, the Amhara Youth Association condemns the ongoing genocide against the Amhara people in Metekel zone.
The federal, Amhara, and Benishangul-Gumuz governments should realize that their primary role is to protect the public, and that they should continue to monitor the ongoing racial and religious segregation campaign against the Amhara people in Danguer Woreda.
We also urge the Amhara Regional State Government to take action to protect the peace and stability of the region, in addition to providing legal protection to a large number of Amharas in the area.
In addition, we call on the civic institutions and political parties organized in the name of the Amhara people to strengthen their unity as never before and to focus on the sustainable development of Amharas in different areas. We also call on the government to address the damage caused by the overflowing of Lake Tana in the Fogera and Denbia areas of Gondar and rehabilitate the victims.
Meskerem Abera – Activist and University lecturer!
Twenty people are said to have been killed under the imposition of a state of emergency in the Metekel zone.
An emergency was declared and the government’s response to the killings was a common mockery of “the attack could not be prevented because it took place at night.”
First of all, the people who have the government have the right to be protected day and night. Day in and day out! Next, an area under the state of emergency will be placed under the strictest protection. A state of emergency was declared in the middle of the night to ensure that the same attack did not happen again at night while the previous attack took place at night ???
“Wow! “Defend the defense with malice.”
Ethiopian Human Rights Commission Press Release!
More loss of life in Benishangul Gumuz region l
“We need to ensure the safety of our citizens and bring the perpetrators to justice!” (Asosa, September 25, 2020) The Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) has expressed grave concern over the loss of at least 15 people in a renewed attack in Benishangul-Gumuz State.
The commission confirmed that 15 people were killed in a shooting at a village near Negze River in Manbuk town, Tekel Zone, Dangur Woreda, around 11:00 am today.
Data collected by 8 p.m. According to local government sources, 15 unarmed civilians were killed and 11 men and 4 women were among the dead. The age of the dead has not yet been determined, and similar sources told the commission that one person had sustained a life-threatening injury. The Defense Forces are still searching for the injured and there are fears that the number of injured may increase.
So far, reports indicate that the attack was carried out by illegal militants, and the commission has received information that the militants took control of the area at around 7 a.m. after an exchange of gunfire with the Defense Forces.
“In Benishangul-Gumuz, there is an urgent need to ensure security, the rule of law and the perpetrators of atrocities against civilians,” said Daniel Bekele, commissioner of ISMCO.
The Federal Government has taken over the security of the four woredas of Tekel Zone from September 24, 2020 in accordance with the decision to place them under the command post until November 2020. The Wombera, Bulen and Guba woredas, including Dangur woreda, were attacked yesterday morning.
As you look at the many different faces of Ethiopians shown above, you will see a reflection of the genuine unity of Ethiopia I envision for the future, where the beauty, uniqueness and inclusion of all Ethiopians are valued and acknowledged regardless of their ethnicities.
You may not know the name, the age, the language, the ethnicity, the religion or the background of those beautiful pictured, but we do know that each is a precious human being, worthy of love, respect, dignity and basic rights as equal citizens and members of Ethiopian society.
These Ethiopian people symbolize the many faces of Ethiopia that create a beautiful garden of humanity within our borders. This is what our movement of the Solidarity Movement for a New Ethiopia (SMNE) and I’m human movement is about—putting the people first.
This is not a solidarity of a ethnicity or tribe, a class, a language, a religion or a region, but of all Ethiopians who believe that one’s own freedom, justice, peace and opportunity is best preserved and enhanced through the protection and advancement of the freedom, justice, peace and opportunity of their fellow citizens.
This is a movement of the people that calls Ethiopians to reach out to each other in reconciliation, forgiveness, compassion and acceptance.
The image of Ethiopia to the rest of the world is a negative one for we are known for our poverty, starvation, homelessness, ethnic conflicts, ethnic federalism, ethno-nationalism and endless suffering.
We bear some responsibility for our misery for we have failed to love, value humanity and respect others and to fear God and the moral law.
This failure is not ours alone, but has been greatly worsened in the last 40 years by the past and the present Ethiopian leaders who believe in tribalism and exploit the people for their own self-interest and their ethnic group interests.
These ethnocentric leaders and their elite colleagues, as well as the rich and powerful nations in the world who may ignore our call, may abandon Ethiopia, but Allah/God will never abandon Ethiopia and its precious people.
This is the foundational belief that undergirds the SMNE/I’m human movement and it is our duty to revive and transform our nation.
It is critical for us the people of Ethiopia to reviews the issues posed by our national unity question with particular reference to the defective ethnic federalism constitution, federal structure, federal character issue, revenue allocation dislocation and Ethiopian citizenship question. It should further explores how to strengthen our common ideals in order to foster genuine unity in diversity.
Unity in diversity is one major stepping stone towards the attainment of nationhood and the need to promote it by good adaptation or adoption as dictated by true federalism and genuine federal restructuring should never be compromised for ethnic loyalties.
Unity in diversity in Ethiopia’s nationhood is the only way forward to create harmonious society NOT ethnic based unity of the ethnic federalism.
Unity in diversity means being one or united in spite of the various differences in the social, political, economic, geographical and cultural spheres. Unity in diversity therefore is reflected when people have started learning how to build a strong, virile nation out of the different tribes and issues.
What we need in Ethiopia is federalism not ethnic federalism. Federalism is a form of government where the component units of a political organization participate in sharing powers and functions in a cooperative manner though the combined forces of ethnic pluralism and cultural diversity, among others, tend to pull their people apart.
The American mode of federalism which is greatly aided by a possession of common aspirations and common ideals is what I am recommended for Ethiopia.
May Allah/God free Ethiopians from the chains of ethnic federalism, tribalism, ethnic extremism, making Ethiopian bold and courageous and strengthening their minds and hands to do the great work of justice, freedom and peace for all!
I love this pictures. These precious human beings and beautiful children I have met throughout Ethiopia remind me of my childhood. I see myself in these adorable Ethiopian children. They're all so beautiful and pure. It's an innocence which at heart, remind me of myself!
It breaks my heart whenever I see our Ethiopian children neglected, abused and ends up homeless and some of them struggle with mental health, substance abuse and experience physical and psychological trauma.
Whenever I hear a sad stories about our children and compared it to my own, I could not be silent because my childhood was the best part of my life.
When I was once a child, I was protected not only by my family, but also by my community.
As a grownup man, I now have that duty to protect other human beings regardless of their ethnicity or religious: especially the children, young adults, women, the vulnerable, the disabled, the forgotten, the marginalized, the discriminated against, the hungry and those in harm’s way.
These amazing Ethiopians in the pictures and millions more throughout Ethiopia are me and I am them. They are my family and my people regardless of their ethnicity, skin colour, language, sex, religion and etc.
As we all know children depend on many adults as they grow up. Parents, relatives, teachers and child care workers all provide children with love, support and guidance.
Our Ethiopian children need to be protected and given the chance to just be children and never ignore the growing risks our children are facing.
Every child throughout Ethiopia deserves a childhood in all its fullness. It is our responsibility as citizens to work together to protect our children. Together, we can protect our children and give them a better future.
That’s why I am appealing to Ethiopian families everywhere and leaders at all levels to do everything in their power to protect our children and our future.
As for me, I will always acted as a protector and watch tower to our children, our women, the disabled, the elderly and the most vulnerable of society until the day I pass on from this unkind world of hatred, extremism, greed and guns.
As for every Ethiopian citizens, we have a responsibility to prepare our children and students for a brighter and prosperous future.
Our children are entitled to a free and quality basic education the children of today are the adult citizens of tomorrow.
Education is a shared responsibility between us all and it will determine success for individuals and for the nations. In other words a good nation is good because of how education has shaped the perspective and understanding of the populace!
We need to give all children an inclusive and quality education. Quality education is the most empowering force in the world. No country can really develop unless its citizens are educated.
An educated citizenry is the best guarantee for a justice, freedom, peace, equality and thriving democracy.
Rethinking the purpose of Ethiopian’s education and reaffirming a humanistic approach to education has never been more urgent than ever before.
Quality education will make us a better citizens NOT ethno-nationalists as it is today under ethnic federalism by teaching our children how to conduct themselves through life. Quality education will also enables the process of the nation's peace, stability and fast development.
Our education system should includes kindnesses, forgiveness, humanity and integrity in our school curricula and textbooks.
A quality education is key to a child's future success and it will help students to become active, knowledgeable citizens of the nation and relationships with students and peers they might never had have the chance to know otherwise !
Indeed quality teaching is essential to give students the foundational literacy and numeracy on which lifelong learning depends. Quality education requires a safe and friendly environment.
It is crucial to ensure that education quality, inclusion and equity. More than ever before in our nation's history, education is not only the ticket to our national unity, peace, economic success, but also to basic survival.
Can we honestly say that we're doing enough to keep our Ethiopian children — all of them — safe from harm?” Absolutely not!
Our precious children are expecting us to do more about their wellbeing and better future! No longer can any of us use the excuse that we did not know! Now, we all know!
May Allah/God change the course we are on and heal this beautiful country we call home.
May Allah/God free Ethiopians from the chains of fear, making them bold and courageous and strengthening their hands to do the great work of peace!
May Allah/God start a moral revolution in our hearts and minds, where we can converge in love in the name of brotherhood, sisterhood and humanity.
