 Ethiopian Citizens for Social Justice (Ezema) Press Release on Current Addis Ababa Case

Ethiopian Citizens for Social Justice (Ezema) main office

Peace is the main issue we all stand guard and fight for. While we strongly condemn any act that violates the peace and order of our city, we strongly oppose any government crackdown on civilians in the name of peace.

With this in mind, Ethiopians have been paying close attention to the fact that a large number of Ethiopian youths are being arrested in connection with the Adwa celebration. The city is working hard to get the young man to bow his head. Efforts are being made to ensure that he does not exercise his right to ask questions and that he does not engage in any form of political or social activism.

Addis Ababa is home to all Ethiopians, the political center of our country and the seat of diplomats. The people of the capital have been very active during various regimes, have had a profound impact on the country's politics, and their participation has been a source of hope for all Ethiopians.

The EPRDF, which had been hoping for a landslide victory in Election 2004, came out in droves and punished the ruling government with a card. The actions of the dictators of that time opened the way for the city, especially the youth, to stay out of politics. Despite this, the young man has been doing his best in various ways without being involved in the affairs of the country.

Ever since the "power of change" began to rule the country, the people of Addis Ababa have been implicated in "illegal events" in various regions as well as in the capital, assassinations by militants, sectarian mobs, and "like a battlefield" in all four corners of the country. It is well-known that he has been giving his administration the opportunity to enforce the law and to maintain peace.

The Adwa Victory Day commemoration, which has been celebrated with perseverance and brilliance throughout the centuries, is the greatest symbol of our history and the pride of the people of our city. In 2022 The government has been making various statements about the venue and situation of the All Black Victory Day, which has been confusing and irritating the public.

There were protests at the Adwa festival, which was sparked by a government crackdown. We strongly oppose any attempt to intimidate and suppress the political participation of the city's youth by mass arrests and court appearances, rather than prosecuting any criminals.

In addition, the Addis Ababa Police Commission said recruiters have been sent to all regions to increase the number of Addis Ababa City Police to 50,000.

The security guards of the medina, mainly the police, must be residents of the city. Recruiting the police from different parts of the country under the guise of an all-encompassing city, the benefits outweigh the benefits. We strongly believe that all Ethiopians are the owners and owners of the city and that it is the responsibility of the city to manage and maintain the city.

Therefore,

1. To release the residents of the city who were unjustly imprisoned in connection with the celebration of Adwa;

2. The judiciary shall be open to the public and the media shall be open to the public on suspicion of having committed crimes.

3. Detainees under the protection of the law should be visited by family, friends and lawyers, and their other rights must be respected;

4. To strengthen the city police with citizens from the city;

5. The young man of the city was repeatedly told, "He refuses to protect the city," but when the country was in turmoil, more than 120,000.00 residents spent the winter waiting for their city. Those who are competent and interested should be given priority to join the city police;

6. We urge the Honorable Addis Ababa resident to pay close attention to the activities of the city administration and not to be distracted during the election.

Instead of examining themselves as "why did the people oppose us like this"? And it shows that you are not open to criticism.

Therefore, arresting and harassing citizens who say, "I am leading a country by popular vote" is an anti-democratic movement. To think that I will break the city dweller with this is nothing more than to show that our leaders do not know how many people they govern. Trying to cover it up does not eliminate problems.

We would like to announce that a press conference will be held in Addis Ababa next week on the undemocratic issues facing Ethiopians in Addis Ababa.
