Ethiopia, Kenya Keen to Boost Bilateral Relations
Addis Ababa March 11, 2017 The governments of Ethiopia and Kenya expressed keenness to further enhance bilateral relationships.
The two sides reiterated their stance during a consultation between Foreign Minister Dr. Workneh Gebeyheyu and President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya on bilateral and issues of mutual interest.
They discussed on how both countries can work together on regional peace and security issues, particularly on ways of ensuring peace and stability in South Sudan and possibilities of working with the new government in Somalia.
Both officials have also resolved to work together on successful conduct of  the upcoming IGAD conference on the refugees from Somalia at the end of this month.
During the occasion, Dr. Workneh delivered a special message sent from Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegene to President Kenyatta.
The Foreign Minister has also held discussions with Kenyan Minister of Foreign Affairs and Head of Cabinet Affairs, Dr. Amina Mohammed.
The two officials also discussed on the implementation of bilateral trade, investment, integrated border development programs, peace and security and cooperation on border control between the two countries.
The two sides also discussed on effective implementation of transport and transit network project prepared to strengthen the north corridor network.
The foreign ministers of both countries discussed on issues of common interest in which both countries share similar views, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Read more here
