The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) has organized a workshop to validate studies just completed towards the establishment of a one stop border post (OSBP) on the Sudan and Ethiopia border. The studies are funded through a grant from the Government of Sweden through their Embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The OSBP is intended to facilitate and ease trade and movement of people and goods between the two countries. This project will serve as the pilot project towards establishment of OSBPs in the IGAD region. Once established, the OSBPs will play a pivotal role in enhancing regional trade and integration and hence providing immense socio-economic development in the region.
The workshop is graced by transport, trade and customs representative experts from Sudan and Ethiopia; representative from the Embassy of Sweden, Ethiopia; private sector; and IGAD infrastructure staff from the Economic Cooperation and Social Development Division. The Consultant undertaking the studies is presenting to the participants the findings of the Study.
