Kudumbasree inspires Ethiopians

Ethiopia has learnt valuable lessons from the Kudumbasree poverty eradication model in Kerala, which has utilised the immense potential of women in bringing about prosperity within the family and community, Zenebu Tadesse Woldetsadik, the Minister for Women, Children and Youth Affairs, Ethiopia, said.
Teams from Ethiopia and Kudumbasree have been interacting on how the model can be replicated in Ethiopia.
To sign MoU
“We have already identified the regions where the Kudumbasree model can be implemented and are now ready to sign a Memorandum of Understanding,” she said.
Ms. Woldetsadik was inaugurating the international seminar on Poverty Eradication, Women Empowerment and Local Self Government, organised by Kudumbasree Poverty Eradication Mission here on Thursday.
Ethiopia has in recent times been taking several concrete measures for women empowerment. However, considering the traditional constraints on women, the challenge to bring 49 per cent of the population to the mainstream has been tough, she added.

Kudumbasree has shown the world how it is possible for women to achieve economic, social and political empowerment, overcoming all societal challenges. It is now the national resource organisation for six Indian States and some south African nations, M. K. Muneer, the Minister for Panchayats, said in his address.
