IOM relocates asylum seekers in Ethiopia

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) says it has been relocating 621 Somali asylum-seekers from Sheder to Dollo Ado refugee camps in Ethiopia over the past two months, APA learnt Tuesday.The asylum seekers fled the conflict in Yemen, crossing to Somaliland before entering Ethiopia via the Togwachale entry point.

The IOM said in a statement on Tuesday that it’s Jijiga and Dolo Ado sub-offices in Ethiopia’s Somali Region in cooperation with the Administration for Refugee and Returnee Affairs (ARRA) and UNHCR, moved the group to refugee camps in the Dolo Ado area where they can register as refugees and benefit from assistance.

The relocation exercise started in December 2015 and comprised five batches, the latest of which was on Friday when 92 people were relocated.
IOM also relocated 79 Yemeni asylum seekers in December and January.
They were moved from Sheder to Addis Ababa, in coordination with ARRA and UNHCR.
