Ethiopian to Host International Aviation Symposium
March 14, 2017 - Ethiopian Airlines will host the 4th International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Global Aviation Training and Training Plus Symposium April 11-13, 2017 in Addis Ababa, according to Walta.
CEO of Ethiopian, Tewolde Geberemariam, in his briefings to journalists, said that the symposium is the first in Africa of its kind and will be marked under the theme “Together, Enhancing Training to Build Capacity”.
The new cargo terminal will also be inaugurated during the symposium days he said; adding that this Cargo terminal is the largest and most modern in Africa, with annual cargo capacity of 650 thousand tons, in the coming couple of months that transforms Addis Ababa as one of the best Cargo Hubs in the air cargo industry.
Ethiopian commands the lion’s share of the pan-African passenger, the youngest and most modern fleet to more than 95 international and 20 local destinations.
According to the CEO, Ethiopian has allocated half a billion USD for the expansion of its business centers namely Ethiopian Cargo, Ethiopian Aviation Academy, Ethiopian In-flight Catering Services and some others. Similarly, the airline is building hotels having 371 hotel rooms. The construction of the hotel is 40 percent completed and it will commence service within a year, it was noted.
The airline has recorded an average growth of 25% in the past seven years. (Walta)
