(EBC; November 9, 2016) - Ethiopia is on the right track to realize its vision 2020 of producing competent citizens, said Eshetu Cheru, Director of Planning and Resource at the Ethiopian Ministry of Education.
Speaking at a report dissemination program on Tuesday, the director said "with a vision to building an education and training system that assures quality and equity education, the Ministry is working hard to realize the vision of producing competent citizens by 2020".
Nurturing the execution capacity of the education and training sector, designing and assuring standards of efficiency, and expanding well-equipped higher education facilities are major activities to realize the country's vision 2020 in the education sector, said the director.
According to the director, one major area of priority for Ethiopia through its vision 2020 is child education. A new report launched by Save the Children also recommends areas of intervention for Ethiopia to further augment its achievements in the education sector.
John Graham, Save the Children Ethiopia Country Director, also commended Ethiopia's progress in early childhood care and education sector as "extraordinary".
