Addis Ababa — The high-level African Summit on Libya and Libya's neighboring countries issued a final communiqué in which it condemned use of mercenaries in the Libyan-Libyan conflict, where it poses a long-term threat to Libya' stability and countries of the region as a whole, in reference to rebel movements in Sudan.
The Communiqué said the AU High-Level Panel on Libya , which held an emergency meeting and in which President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir represented Sudan, called for halting all forms of the armed interventions in Libyan affair, as such interference, the communiqué added, the base for triggering conflict in Libya and undermining security and stability there.
The Panel expressed appreciation over gains achieved by Libyan forces ,where it managed to restore Sirte and Benghazi cities and other Libyan territories when it managed to neutralized the terrorist groups in Libya-the so-called Islamic State.
The Communiqué called all the concerned parties in Libya to continue efforts to get rid of the extremist groups operating inside Libya.
It expressed the Panel's satisfaction over participation of the Libya's neighboring countries in the Summit and appreciated their continued endeavors to realize peace, security and reconciliation.
The Communiqué called all parties , especially the Libya Presidency Council and the Parliament to work together to form a government of accord including all parties as soon as possible.
It commended the AU efforts and its continued support to Libya during the transitional period, and its assertion that political settlement is the only solution to current crisis in Libya.
The Communiqué expressed the Committee' strong support to Libyans who are suffering from humanitarian problems, and social and security challenges. Read more here
