Hailemariam Desalegn, Prime Minister of Ethiopia, inaugurated 2 roads that connect Addis – Adama Expressway with the capital city. The roads have a total length of 28.1 kilometers.
The first road is 14.6 kilometers long and it stretches from Akaki to Goro ICT Park. The other road linking Addis with the expressway stretches from Akaki to Lebu being 13.6 kilometers long.
The two road projects were undertaken at an outlay of 4.6 billion Birr. 75 percent of the project’s cost was funded by a loan secured from Export Import Bank of China while the rest was covered by the Ethiopian government.
The project was awarded to China Communication Construction Company (CCCC) in 2009 after winning a bid. The construction company has concluded the work 6 months ahead of the schedule.

Inauguration of the 2 roads is expected to ease traffic congestion that is witnessed in Ethiopia’s busiest road, Akaki – Bishoftu corridor.
The 2 roads are 28 meters wide and have 3 lanes on each side. The roads also features 16 bridges as well 1 train crossing bridge.
