Ethiopia and Mozambique signed a
comprehensive cooperation agreement in Maputo which would expand the
bilateral cooperation in diverse frontiers. The accord included the
establishment of a Joint Ministerial Commission. The two parties avowed
to cooperate in a range of areas, including civil aviation,
agriculture, livestock and natural resource development, military
training, science and technology, transport and communication, culture
and tourism.
Prime Minister
Hailemariam Desalegn who has been to Mozambique for a three-day official
visit met with President of Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi earlier on
Tuesday, under which the two sides reiterated the importance of
deepening bilateral relations. According to Ambassador Taye
Atske-selassie, State Minister Foreign Affairs, the two leaders
reaffirmed their commitment to enhance the trade and investment ties and
expand their cooperation at a continental level.
Congratulating
Ethiopia for having been elected as a non-permanent member of the UNSC,
President Filipe Nyusi underscored that this rendered ripe
opportunities for Africans. President Filipe Nyusi also hailed
Ethiopia's active role in the maintenance of peace at both continental
and international fora. Prime Minister Hailemariam also extended his
gratitude to Mozambique and the African Union for supporting Ethiopia at
the UNSC elections, adding that the opportunity accorded further
responsibility for Ethiopia to reinvigorate its commitment on African
agendas.
