Global power management company, Eaton International Industries, is proud to announce its support of the Ethiopian government Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP).
Through the provision of sustainable and effective power management solutions to enable businesses manage energy more effectively, Eaton will help enable transition in Ethiopia from a developing country to a middle-income country by 2025.
Speaking at a pre-launch media meeting, Eaton Managing Director, Africa, Seydou Kane spoke about how Eaton will continue to build a more energy efficient Africa through partnerships with local agencies and companies. This will be the first step towards supporting Ethiopia’s continued economic growth helping the country to become a regional energy hub in East Africa.
“The partnership with select distributors will enable Eaton to provide advanced power management technologies to enable businesses to do more with less energy in an emerging market like Ethiopia and further bring Eaton closer to its customers in the East Africa region,” said Kane.
Eaton, which specialises in helping customers manage electrical, hydraulic and mechanical power more reliably, efficiently, safely and sustainably, employs over 97,000 people worldwide and serves customers in 175 countries. In Africa, the company focuses on the creation of customised solutions to meet customers’ specific power management needs.
As part of its energy sustenance plan for the region, Eaton launched a new hybrid solar power inverter for the East Africa market that is designed to reduce customers’ cost of electricity and maximise customers’ energy harvest. The hybrid solar inverter which was launched at the East Africa Power Industry Convention, held in Nairobi-Kenya, converts up to 4.2 kW of electricity from solar panels direct current (DC) into clean alternating current (AC), as well as allowing the simple plug in of batteries for energy storage from the sun or grid.
Kane added: “The development and use of innovative technologies is critical in increasing energy efficiency in Africa. Africa’s energy challenges lie not in building more and larger power generation plants, but instead in the investment in advanced power management technologies to enable businesses to do more with less energy in an increasingly resource constrained world.”
As Eaton continues to explore alternative avenues to serve the needs of its customers in Ethiopia, the company is committed to building business relationships across the East Africa region. This includes providing power management solutions across the following segments; commercial building, utilities, data centres, storage/renewable energy.
Seydou Kane announced that Eaton will be leveraging its expertise and capabilities in Africa through its manufacturing facilities in South Africa and Morocco, its extensive distributor network and a dedicated team of 900 employees across the region to support the US Government’s Power Africa initiative in Ghana, Liberia, Kenya, Tanzania, Nigeria and Ethiopia.
