The Ethiopian government is still holding negotiations in an international tender to buy 70,000 tonnes of wheat and no purchase has yet been made, European traders said.
The tender closed on Dec. 9 with shipment from optional origins sought 30 days after the opening of a letter of credit on the deal.
The lowest offer was $224.85 a tonne c&f to port or $299.60 a tonne including transport to inland destinations in Ethiopia for wheat thought to be of Black Sea origin, traders said.
Ethiopia made a purchase of over 800,000 tonnes of wheat in November as the country faces poor local harvests linked to the disruptive El Nino weather pattern.
