The Ethiopian government in partnership with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and Malawian government has brought back 224 migrants who made an unauthorized entry into Malawi.The migrants arrived back home on Friday boosting up the number of repatriated citizens to 387.
Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Tewolde Mulugeta welcomed the returnees upon arrival at the Addis Ababa International Airport.
Once they arrive back home, the returnees receive support to get back to their localities where further support from regional offices is awaiting, the spokesperson said.
The returnees expressed gratitude for the valuable support which finally helped them get back home.
The returnees said they have faced serious problems while they were in prison in Malawi.
