It was a family affair at Jesus Green lido this week as part of a bid to raise much-needed funds for schoolchildren in one of the poorest parts of the world.
Jane Hunt had originally signed-up to tackle the mile-long sponsored swim this week in aid of primary schools in the slums of Ethiopia's capital city, Addis Ababa.
Retired schoolteacher Mrs Hunt is a regular visitor to these schools and told the News the children were forced to work in "unimaginably poor conditions".
But the 71-year-old injured her wrist in a cycling accident – prompting her cousin Lucy Pain to step-in and complete the swim.
The duo's efforts have raised more than £1,000 so far.
