Ethiopian Energy Authority unveiled that it has formulated a framework helpful for reducing energy wastage in Ethiopia, Ethiopian News Agency reported.
Twenty percent of energy produced in Ethiopia is believed to be wasted, according to the International Energy Agency. This figure is equivalent to 400MW power or equivalent to the electricity generated by Gilgel Gibe-II.
The Authority established in 2014, has been conducting researches in the past 21 months about the energy production, distribution and consumption.
The data gathered in this period reveals there is energy waste in all levels. To this effect, the Authority has imported energy utilization inspection equipments.
The Authority is to begin the work on special stoves used to bake injera in July.
