The Civil Industrial Explosives Experts Association handed over bond certificates to members for intensifying efforts to complete the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam yesterday at Ras Hotel.
Chairman of the Association Mulugeta Hawaz said that while the construction of Ethiopia's Grand Renaissance Dam is well underway, the Association is upholding the legacy of the late Prime Minister Meles Zenawi and is committed to the successful completion of the project.
The Association stands beside the government and the people of Ethiopia with a view to expanding new technology in the country's ongoing infrastructure development, and mobilizing immense resources towards the completion of the GERD.
Secretary General of the Association, Abebe Shiferaw on his part said that indeed, experts and members of the association have received their bond purchase certificates which is worth over 100,000 Birr. He said the Association's contribution will not be limited to solely the purchase of bonds but also contribution in labour and skills in the construction.
Abebe also noted that the Association takes part in developmental projects such as the construction of the Express Road, Gilgel Gibe Dam, Mining and Cement production facilities.
President of the Ethiopian Development Bank, Esayas Bahire noted that the event re-formed by Civil Industrial Explosives Experts Association is an indicator for showing the perseverance of the people of Ethiopia to build the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam and to eradicate poverty from the country by getting organized in various professional groups.
During the process of huge constructions, rocks may sometimes be dislodged and the assistance of rock blasting experts may be needed, and in this respect the contribution of the association for the construction of the GERD becomes key. They are practically proving their readiness to contribute their best for the success of the construction.
During the handover ceremony, theatrical and artistic shows were presented by renowned artists focusing on the theme: "Intensifying efforts to complete the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam."
