The official, who doubles as the ETO Board Chairman said the organization had concluded arrangements with the Ethiopian Immigration Authorities to allow holidaymakers from 30 listed countries to process their visas on arrival.
Hailu said the gesture was part of effort to boost the sector and also attract more international tourists to the country that currently ranks 17th in the African tourism chart.
The airlines chief said the country’s hotel service providers had also agreed to cut their charges by 20 percent to enhance revenue generation for the government.
According to him, Ethiopian Airlines and the tourism organization have evolved mechanisms through its 80 international destinations to attract tourists across the world through its online offices.
Available data show that some 500,000 international tourists visit Ethiopia’s historical and cultural sites every year.
