Beyonce Donates $125K To Help Premature Babies in Ethiopia and other countries

Beyonce Donates $125K To Help Premature Babies in Ethiopia and other countries

As a mother herself, the singer was inspired to support inventor Jenny Chan whose genius invention will save thousands of babies lives

She is famous for her big voice but singer Beyoncé showed that she's also got a big heart too when she recently donated $125,000 to help save the lives of premature babies in developing countries.

Beyoncé gave the huge donation to Embrace Innovations - a charitable organisation that has designed and now distributes an ingenious infant warmer for babies born in poverty.

The baby warmer is a low-cost alternative to an incubator that looks like a tiny sleeping bag as seen below.

Beyoncé’s donation will fund pilot testing of the device in Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania and Uganda, and could help 1,900 underweight babies who, without it, might not live.

The Crazy in Love singer, who became a mother herself to daughter Blue Ivy in 2012, announced her support and donation at an anniversary party for Gucci’s Chime for Change charity which raises awareness for education and health for girls in developing nations.

Cristiano Ronaldo injury is down to me, claims Ghanaian witch doctor as Portugal ace struggles for fitness ahead of World Cup

Cristiano Ronaldo injury is down to me, claims Ghanaian witch doctor as Portugal ace struggles for fitness ahead of World Cup
A Ghanaian witch doctor has claimed he is responsible for the injury which could keep Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo out of the World Cup.

Portugal have been drawn in Group G, the 'Group of Death', where they will face tough tests against Germany, the USA and finally Ghana.

Ronaldo has not played since scoring in Real Madrid's Champions League final win against Atletico Madrid on May 25 and a statement released by the Portugal FA on Wednesday confirmed that he is suffering from tendonitis in his left knee as well as a thigh strain.

The witch doctor, whose name is Nana Kwaku Bonsam which translates as 'Devil of Wednesday', predicted Ronaldo would be forced to miss the World Cup through injury in February.

In an interview with Kumasi-based radio station Angel FM, he is reported as saying: 'I know what Cristiano Ronaldo’s injury is about, I’m working on him.

'I am very serious about it. Last week, I went around looking for four dogs and I got them to be used in manufacturing a special spirit called Kahwiri Kapam.

'I said it four months ago that I will work on Cristiano Ronaldo seriously and rule him out of the World up or at least prevent him from playing against Ghana and the best thing I can do is to keep him out though injury.

'This injury can never be cured by any medic, they can never see what is causing the injury because it is spiritual. Today, it is his knee, tomorrow it is his thigh, next day it is something else.'

On Tuesday, Ronaldo trained separately from the rest of the Portugal squad along with fellow injury doubts Raul Meireles, Beto and Pepe at their training base in New York.

The player also missed the World Cup warm-up game against Greece on Saturday as Portugal were held to a goalless draw.

Portugal are due to face Mexico on Saturday and the Republic of Ireland next Tuesday in their final two World Cup warm-up games.

Their World Cup campaign kicks off against Germany on June 16.

Pr. Barack Obama spying the back of Angela Merkel

Pr. Barack Obama spying the back of Angela Merkel

G7 Gipfel in Brüssel
Germany’s top public prosecutor has launched an investigation into the bugging of Angela Merkel’s mobile phone by U.S. intelligence in the light of revelations by former spy agency contractor Edward Snowden, authorities said on Wednesday.

The two countries have been at odds over the U.S. National Security Agency’s (NSA) spying habits since Snowden’s revelations last year showed the United States had listened in on many of its allies, including Merkel, severely testing ties between Berlin and Washington.

Attorney General Harald Range’s office said Germany’s top federal prosecutor has enough data to push ahead with an official investigation.

“Extensive preliminary investigations produced sufficient factual evidence that unknown U.S. intelligence officers tapped a mobile phone of Chancellor Angela Merkel,” said a statement from Range’s office.

Although there is not yet a strong enough case to start legal proceedings, Range’s office said he is still looking into wider allegations that both U.S. and British intelligence carried out “massive surveillance of the German population’s telecommunications data”.

Range, who had told a German parliamentary committee earlier on Wednesday about his plans to open legal proceedings over the espionage, was due to hold a news conference at 5 p.m. (1500 GMT) at his office in the city of Karlsruhe. Justice Minister Heiko Maas told German radio earlier in the day that investigators would “have to take action” if it came to light that German law had been broken regarding Merkel’s mobile phone or other surveillance revealed by Snowden.

Revelations that the United States and Britain have carried out large-scale electronic espionage in Germany – including from the roofs of their embassies in Berlin, near Merkel’s office and the Reichstag – have provoked widespread indignation in Germany.

In a country sensitive about official surveillance after the excesses of the Nazi-era Gestapo secret police and of the Stasi in former communist East Germany, politicians have pushed in vain for a “no-spy” agreement with Washington. The United States said it did not have such agreements with any country, friend or foe.

When Merkel visited President Barack Obama in May, she was asked by reporters if trust had been restored. She replied by saying that “we have a few difficulties to overcome”, referring to the conflict over U.S. surveillance practices. Snowden, who has sought refuge in Moscow, has promised to bring new information to light proving Germans’ rights were violated by American intelligence if he is able to give evidence to a German parliamentary committee investigating the matter. Merkel’s government has so far declined to bring him to Berlin to testify in person fearing it would further damage relations with Washington.
