Foreign Affairs Deputy Minister Rayford Mbulu has dismissed as false reports circulating in Ethiopia that the Ethiopian nationals who were released from Zambian prisons were mistreated.
This is in relation to the 76 Ethiopians who were arrested in a case of Human trafficking that lead to the death of  19 Ethiopians after they suffocated in truck laden with fish.
Mr. Mbulu says Zambia ensures strict adherence to immigration laws which should not be seen as mistreating foreigners who have no proper documentation.

He says Zambia and Ethiopia have enjoyed cordial relationship for a long time.

The Deputy Minister was reacting to recent Ethiopian media reports that have accused Zambia of mistreating illegal immigrants as he stopped over in that country enroute to Gambia to attend the TICAD Ministerial meeting.

This is according to a statement made available to ZNBC News by Zambia’s first Secretary for Press and Tourism in Ethiopia Naomi Chulu. Read more here
