Ethiopia is gearing up for next month’s high-level Africa security forum to discuss the continent’s place in the cycle of terrorism-related violence around the world.

According to a statement by the organisers on Saturday, the fifth Tana Forum on Security in Africa will hold from 16 to 17 April, in the Ethiopian town of Bahir Dar, Amhara State with the theme “Africa in the Global Security Agenda.”

Former Nigerian President and Chairperson of Tana Board, Olesegun Obasanjo, was quoted saying Africa's role in global security and peace mission will be up for discussion at the meeting.

Kofi Annan, former UN Secretary-General will be the keynote speaker, according to Obasanjo.

Rwandan President, Paul Kagame, is also expected to speak on Africa's development based on his country's experience.

Andreas Eshete, Deputy Chairperson of Tana Board, said the theme of the forum is timely and will be the catalyst for a vigorous debate amongst the delegate.

Tana High-Level Forum on Security in Africa is a platform for African leaders, key stakeholders, and pro-active strategists to collaboratively engage in exploring and exchanging ideas on African-led solutions to security challenges.

Heads of state and government, leaders from the private sector, concerned civil society, eminent personalities from politics and media, and representatives of African and non-African multi-lateral bodies are expected to participate in the forum.
