Nearly 800 Yemeni citizens have reached Ethiopia during the past weeks fleeing the civil war in their country, APA can report on Wednesday. According to Ethiopia’s National Intelligence and Security Service and Administration for Refugee and Returnee Affairs, the number of Yemeni nationals sheltered in Ethiopia has so far reached 1,400.
The refugees crossed to Ethiopia in various ways and via Hargessa, Somaliland.
Those who arrived in Djibouti were transported to Addis Ababa by plane.
Ethiopian officials said a camp will not be established for the Yemeni refugees as their number is less than 5,000.
They will be made to live in urban areas with the financial support of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), APA has learnt.
Ethiopia is currently hosting more than 730,000 refugees from 17 countries, with the highest numbers coming from South Sudan, Somalia, and Eritrea.
