RTE star Ryan Tubridy is on his third day of a week-long trip which he has described as ‘humbling and enlightening’.
The RTE broadcaster visited street child programmes in Addis Ababa yesterday and described it as “The tough side of childhood in Addis. These children are homeless and have nothing. I was heartened to see the impact GOAL is having, making the world a better place for these children.”
These street child programmes are aimed at taking thousands of kids off the street and offering a better life.
GOAL works with children who live and work on the streets of Addis Ababa and to realise their own goals by recognising and building on their skills and talents. The GOAL drop-in centre gives these children an opportunity to wash and get clean clothes. The aid agency offers the children training and then helps them to find work or start up their own business.
Ryan’s last visit of his week-long trip will be to Awassa where GOAL is working in rural communities.
