The center benefits not only Ethiopia but also the entire region and shows Ethiopia’s unwavering determination to strengthen its peace keeping mission in Africa, said Ethiopia’s president Dr. Mulatu Teshome at the inaugural ceremony
Ethiopia has a long history of deploying peace keeping troops and pacifying war torn African nations including Rwanda, Burundi, Liberia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Darfu and Somalia.
Representative of the African Union Commission Brigadier General T.K. Gowal acknowledges Ethiopia’s noble efforts and added the commission’s commitment to support the center.
The International Peace Support Training Center, constructed with $6.2 million will train peace keeping officers that will be drawn from various African countries in various fields.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by representatives of various nations, high government officials and members of the Defense Force.
