NAIROBI, (CAJ News) – ETHIOPIA and Kenya have failed to live up to expectations at the World Relays in Bahamas 2015.
Although Kenya was the only African nation to finish in the top ten, the United States, Jamaica and Germany claimed the most gold medals on offer.
Kenya finished seventh while Africa’s second best Nigeria came 12th overall with 10 medals, five less than Kenya.
From Africa, only Nigeria female’s 4 x 200m team won gold medal in remarkable time of 1:30.52.
Kenya’s medley team won the race but disqualified for errors while a surprise long distance runner from the USA, Ben Blankenship shocked Kenya’s Timothy Cheriuyot to win the men’s gold medal.
The US eventually emerged overall winners followed by Jamaica and Germany to complete the top three nations in the Bahamas.
Botswana made little impact but overall, African teams performed dismally.
