Kenya, Ethiopia rivalry resumes at championships
from MARIA MACHARIA in Nairobi, KenyaNAIROBI, (CAJ News) - THE upcoming Africa Junior Championships are set to be another stage for Ethiopia and Kenya to continue their rivalry as well as the domination of athletics in the continent.
The 12th edition of the championships is scheduled for March 3 to 8 in the Ethiopian capital city of Addis Ababa. According to the Confederation of African Athletics Council, about 30 African countries are expected to take part in the youth championship.
However, all eyes will be on Ethiopia and Kenya to ascertain which between the two countries can lay claim the title of best athletics nation.
There is always fierce but healthy competition when athletes from the two African countries meet.
Track stars from the countries have been dominant forces in continental and global events with the Africa Junior Championships seen as no exception.
Athletics Kenya (AK) has already named a 28-member squad while Ethiopian Athletics Federation (EAF) also countered with a strong field of female and male athletes it believes are capable of winning accolades.
