Diretube. Rail lying is started in the Measo-Dewele rail road project
The
rail lying phase has started in the three billion dollars rail road
project that stretches from Measo to Dewele. Prime Minister Hailemariam
Desalegn who was present at the event said that the start of this rail
lying phase is an indicator that the project will be finalized at its
schedule. The Premier said that after the completion of the project and
when the railroad starts operation it will decrease the transportation
cost and hence ease the economy of its burden.
The Sebeta-Dewele railroad project is being carried out by two contractors. The first one being the Sebeta-Measo and the second one the Measo-Dewele railroad projects where both the projects are carried out by the Chinese companies. The Measo-Dewele railroad project which is started in 2004 E.C is now completed 37%. This project is scheduled to be completed on October, 2015.
In his address at the event, the Premier said that the Mekelle-Woldia and Woldia-Awash railroad projects are to be started soon.
