A 5 year old boy and his 20 years old sister drowned in a water filled hole in Hawasa’s main street on May 5, 2014. As the reporter newspaper reported on the case, at the specified day there was a downpour and the hole besides the main street around ‘Piassa’ was filled with water.
A 20 years old Marie Desta who saw her 5 years old brother drowned tried to save but both of them drowned and died instantly. Their bodies were found around 11 P.M at a place called Aderea hospital.
Eyewitnesses told the newspaper that the city’s municipality closed the hole the next day. Recently reports of accidents due to holes left open in cities are increasing drastically.
