Mesfin Industrial Engineering PLC of Ethiopia in collaboration with Truck & Bus AG Company of Germany inaugurated a heavy truck assembly plant in Meqelle Town.
The plant will import manufactured parts of the trucks from Germany and assemble them in Ethiopia. It is said the plant has a capacity of assembling 1,000 trucks in a year.
Speaking during the inauguration Habte Hadish, General Manager of the company, said the factory would save foreign exchange.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Azeb Mesfin, Chief Executive Officer of the Endowment Fund for the Rehabilitation of Tigray (EFFORT) Group and widow of the late Prime Minister Melese Zenawi.
