In the Ministry of education’s Federal TVET institute ten higher officials including the deputy director are accused of corruption charges.  As the federal ethics and anti corruption commission’s charge document indicates, in 2005 E.C, the institute’s higher officials has allowed the purchase of a 2 million birr equipments without an appropriate purchase procedure.

Though according to procedure a purchase for over 100 000 Br has to be carried out through bid, the institute’s deputy director who is one of the suspects has made it without a bid abusing his authority.

The charge document has also pointed out to the purchase of low quality materials. The suspects have appeared at the federal high court’s first instant court and listened to the charge document. The suspects request for bail is not accepted except for two of the suspects and the court will adjourn for May 23, 2014.
