President Abdi: Liyu police was formed to heal the wounds of our people

Awramba Times (Jigjiga, Ethiopian Somali) – Abdi Mohamed Omar, president of the Ethiopian Somali region, said the rationale behind the formation of the region’s Liyu police was to heal the wounds of our peace-loving people.
According to the president, more than six thousand children, who have lost one or both parents in a decade-long war against the Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) and its allies, are now being enrolled and adopted free of cost, in three comfortable residential based boarding schools.
The Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF), a separatist insurgency commonly known as ubbo in local context, is an organization proscribed by the Ethiopian parliament as a terrorist organization back in June 2011.
“Thanks to the selfless sacrifices of the region’s liyu police, along with the gallant Ethiopian defense forces” Abdi Mahmoud Omar, the regional president, widely considered as an architect of the new stablized face of the region, responded while asked about the rationale of the Liyu Police formation.
