HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE KILLED DURING ETHIOPIA ETHNIC CLASHES

The fighting between members of the two largest groups in the country has displaced more than 50 000 people.
PRETORIA – The Ethiopian government says hundreds of people have died in ethnic clashes in the eastern part of that country.
The fighting between members of the two largest groups in the country has displaced more than 50,000 people.
Information Minister Negeri Lencho says that the exact death toll in more than a week of fighting between Oromo and Somali groups has not been ascertained.
The federal government have since taken over security in the restive region and ordered a probe into rights abuses that may have occurred.
Addis Ababa has also moved to help ease the humanitarian crisis arising from the displacement.
Deadly fighting over the status of disputed settlements and agricultural resources has torn the area for decades. Read more here
