Duale: Amina failed because of Koffi Annan, colonial master

National Assembly Leader of Majority Aden Duale has now accused former UN Secretary general Koffi Annan of meddling in the African Union Commission elections that saw Amina Mohamed lose the Chairperson contest.
Duale said there was no doubt that Annan manipulated the results to ensure Chad's Moussa Mahamat beat Ms Mohamed.
"A number of issues were at play. I even saw a group of activists led by Koffi Annan at the ICC discrediting our candidate," he said to journalists on Tuesday as reported by the Star.
Duale similarly accused France, "which is fighting to recolonise Africa", of working with Annan to determine the outcome of the poll.
He cited the case where 15 countries abstained from the poll, saying that this was occasioned by France's influence.
Duale also pointed an accusing finger at the East African Community member states, saying that they had betrayed Kenya.
"This election has taught us huge lessons. We now know who are our true friends in East Africa and Africa at large. We are going to look for friends who will put the interests of our people and our country first," he said.
He blamed the neighbouring countries and said they turned their backs on Kenya's representative because of the country's foreign policy that has seen high-level international visits that have made Kenya an emerging power house.
