Awramba Times (Addis Ababa) – The Universal Postal Congress, the supreme authority of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) that brings together plenipotentiaries of the Union’s 192 member states, has announced that its extraordinary congress will be held in 2018, in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa.
The Universal Postal Congress is the supreme decision-making authority of the Union and meets every four years to define and adopt the road map for UPU activities for each work cycle, and its extraordinary congress will be conducted in line with the periodic meetings of the congress.
Gidey Gebresselassie, Director General of the Ethiopian postal service Enterprise told journalists in a press conference held in Addis Ababa that Government ministers and other senior decision-makers from the UPU’s 192 member countries, along with representatives of the United Nations organizations and other international and regional bodies, will be attending the Addis Ababa congress to discuss the role of the sector in today’s changing world.
