Ethiopia has received an assistance of 100 million Yuan from the Chinese Government for the construction of railway academy in the East African Country. The railway is planned to be built near the Ethio-Djibouti railway line.
The finance agreement was signed by Abreham Tekeste (Dr.), Minister of Finance and Economic Cooperation, and his Chinese counterpart Qian Kemiang. The agreement was signed Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Hailemariam Dessalegn and the Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao.
The academy is aimed at upgrading the Railway Institute which was established 5 year ago. It will also resolve the demand for skilled manpower in the railway transport sector as well as generate foreign currency by training foreigners as well.
Hailemariam and Yuanchao had discussions prior to the signing ceremony. The 2 discussed on ways to further strengthening the bilateral ties between Ethiopia and China.
