JOHANNESBURG - Police have arrested five suspects after two Ethiopian men were gunned down at a shop in Mayfair this afternoon.
It’s understood the pair were shot and killed by a group of Somalian nationals.
Unlicensed firearms have been seized.
Police spokesperson Kay Makhubela says they're investigating cases of murder.
“Our preliminary investigation led to the arrest of five suspects and we also confiscated two firearms. We are continuing with our investigation.”
Editor's note: An earlier version of this article stated that the two Ethiopian men were killed by a group of Malawians. The police have since clarified that the men were in fact killed by a group of Somalian nationals. Read more here
