CGCOC Hansom Group to Manufacture Special Pipes

CGCOC GROUP CoThe Chinese corporation CGCOC Hansom Group established a new company in Ethiopia which dubbed Hansom Kinfengda Manufacturing PLC and owns a manufacturing plant which produces special type of corrugated pipes. The pipes are said to be used for residential wastes, industrial wastes and water discharges.
Hansom Kinfengda inaugurated its newly built 25 million USD plant during the weekend. The plant is located at Eastern Industry Zone where it rented a shed laying on 30,000 square meters of land.
According to the Managing Director of Hansom Kinfengda, Hu Yongjun, the newly inaugurated plant will manufacture a unique type of plastic pipe called “High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) double-wall corrugate pipe”. The technology which is new to Africa would be handy for pollutant discharges and water discharge underground, he furthered.
Yonjun explained corrugated plastic pipes would serve 40 to 50 years unaltered with the possibility of recycling. Their size ranged from 360 millimeters to 1,000 millimeters based on the custom specifications of buyers, he said.
Ethiopia’s annual demand is 60,000 tons of pipes. Yonjun on the other hand explained, his company’s plant has the capacity to produce 20,000 tons of all kinds of pipes annually, however, the company’s aim at this initial stage is attracting potential buyers in the engineering and construction group.
According to The Reporter, the price for 1 meter corrugated pipe is 3,000 Birr.
