The foundation for the Construction of Selale University in Oromia, Ethiopia was laid on November 23, 2015, Ethiopian News Agency reported.
Muktar Kedir, Chief Administrator of Oromia Regional State, and Shiferaw Shigute, Minister of Education, have laid the cornerstone in Fiche town. The construction will be on 200 hectares of land.
According to Shiferaw, Ethiopia in order to address the development needs of communities living in the proximities of the institutions, is committed to the equitable distribution of universities.
The Minister stated that Ethiopia will construct 11 new universities in the coming five years.
It was indicated that Selale University would be instrumental in enhancing technological development and research programs for agricultural productivity.
