Condos in Addis Ababa to Obtain Power from Solar Energy

Condominium houses which are being constructed in different parts of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, will obtain solar energy starting from this Ethiopian fiscal year, according to Fana Broadcasting Corporate.
Solar panels will be installed at the roof of condominium houses for electricity production, thus condos will not use the national grid to access power.
Debretsion Gebremichael (PHD), Deputy Prime Minister for Finance and Economic Cluster and Minister of Communication and Information Technology, said using solar energy can end the power shortage in condominium houses.
Gosaye Mengistu, CEO of Ethiopian Electric Service, said pilot program will be implemented this Ethiopian budget year on the condominium houses that are under construction.
He also said obtaining power from solar energy is cheap and will reduce the load on the national grid.
Ethiopia has the potential to generate two million MW power from solar energy, a recent study indicates. Nonetheless, the country is using only one percent.
