Ethiopia has earned USD 297 million in revenue from the export of
mining products in the last ten months of this budget year, Ministry of
Mines said.
Ethiopia Bedecha, Deputy Head of Public Relations at the Ministry told Walta Information Center (WIC) the revenue was earned from the exports of Gold, Opal, Gemstone, Platinum and Tantalum products produced by artisanal miners and products of Gold, Marbles and Tantalum.
The artisanal miners of Ethiopia secured USD 204.5 million revenue in the past ten months; the revenue displays decline as the price of mining products in the international market turn down compared to the same period in the last fiscal year.
Mining companies of Ethiopia earned USD 92.54 million revenue from the exports of various mining products in the ten months; equal to the same period of last fiscal year.
Ministry of Mines set up 98 enterprises under small scale and micro enterprises and job opportunities for 81,781 citizens in the artisanal mining of Gold and Gemstone products.
