Seven-star Ghana produce masterclass, Cameroon, Ethiopia win in Nations Cup qualifiers

Ghana opened their campaign in the Nations Cup qualifiers with a 7-1 win over Mauritius in Accra on Sunday to top Group H.

The hosts made a good start, scoring four goals in the first 30 minutes thanks to Christian Atsu who opened the scoring in the 11th minute of the game while Jordan Ayew added the second six minutes later.

Ghana skipper Asamoah Gyan made it 4-0 with his double in the 23rd and 30th minutes respectively.

Jordan Ayew scored another goal in the 38th minute to end the first half with a 5-1 lead as Mauritius striker Andy Sophie scored the consolation goal for his country in the 32nd minute.

Jeffrey Schlupp made it 6-1 at the hour mark while David Accam capped it off for the Black stars during injury time.

In Group M, a last-gasp goal helped Cameroon earn a difficult win at home over Mauritania thanks to striker Vincent Aboubakar, who scored the winner in the 90^th minute of the game.

Earlier in the day Ethiopia succeeded to overturn their first half 1-0 defeat to earn a difficult 2-1 win against Lesotho.

Ahly's striker Saladin Saed scored the winner for Ethiopia, ten minutes from time, giving his side a wining start in the African qualifiers.

In Group A Emmanuel Adebayor's brace rescued Togo against Liberia. The visitors stunned Togo with an early goal from Willam Jabour but the veteran striker scored twice, helping his team to clinch three points from the game.
