Ethiopia says 5 killed in coalition strike in Yemen

ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia said on Thursday that five of its nationals were killed in Yemen in an airstrike by the Saudi Arabia-led coalition.
The five Ethiopian nationals used to live in Yemen, according to Ethiopian television, which quoted a statement by Redwan Hussein, the head of government communications affairs.
He said Ethiopia requested explanation from Saudi Arabia on the incident.
Hussein expressed sorrow for the death of the Ethiopian citizens, noting that they were killed near a refugee camp set up for foreigners in Yemen.
The official did not, however, provide details about the Yemeni province where the five nationals had been killed.
Yemen has been pounded by airstrikes since March 25 by a Saudi Arabia-led coalition established to fight Shia Houthi militant group.
Saudi Arabia says it launched its campaign in response to appeals by Yemen’s embattled President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi for help against the Houthis who overran the capital Sanaa late last year.
